Chickens are healthiest when they are allowed to freely roam and have access to grass and insects. Their natural instinct to scratch in the ground for nutrients has been observed as young as three days old. We refresh our flock every third year but always keep the old girls around. By allowing our chickens to roam the farm during the day and deposit fertilizer in the fields, we maintain their health and support our regenerative farming approach—it’s a win-win!
